چکیده

Using a code based on the Lattice Boltzmann Equation, we have performed numerical simulations of a turbulent shear flow. We investigate the scaling behaviour of the structure functions in presence of anisotropic homogeneous turbulence, and we show that although Extended Self Similarity does not hold when strong shear effects are present, a more generalized scaling law can still be defined. Multiscaling in Models of Magnetohydrodynamic Turbulence

From a numerical study of the magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) equations we show, for the first time in three dimensions sd 3d, that velocity and magnetic-field structure functions exhibit multiscaling, extended self-similarity (ESS), and generalized extended self-similarity (GESS). We propose a new shell model for homogeneous and isotropic MHD turbulence, which preserves all the invariants of ideal...

A new scaling property of turbulent flows.

A new scaling property of turbulent flows. Abstract We discuss a possible theoretical interpretation of the self scaling property of turbulent flows (Extended Self Similarity). Our interpretation predicts that, even in cases when ESS is not observed, a generalized self scaling, must be observed. This prediction is checked on a number of laboratory experiments and direct numerical simulations.

Classical Kolmogorov Scaling Is Inconsistent with Local Coupling Typeset Using Revt E X 1

We consider cascade models of turbulence which are obtained by restricting the Navier-Stokes equation to local interactions. By combining the results of the method of extended self-similarity and a novel subgrid model, we investigate the inertial range fluctuations of the cascade. Significant corrections to the classical scaling exponents are found. The dynamics of our local Navier-Stokes model...

Experimental study and numerical simulation of three dimensional two phase impinging jet flow using anisotropic turbulence model

Hydrodynamic of a turbulent impinging jet on a flat plate has been studied experimentally and numerically. Experiments were conducted for the Reynolds number range of 72000 to 102000 and a fixed jet-to-plate dimensionless distance of H/d=3.5. Based on the experimental setup, a multi-phase numerical model was simulated to predict flow properties of impinging jets using two turbulent models. Mesh...

1 2 O ct 1 99 5 GENERALIZED SCALING IN FULLY DEVELOPED TURBULENCE

In this paper we report numerical and experimental results on the scaling properties of the velocity turbulent fields in several flows. The limits of a new form of scaling, named Extended Self Similarity(ESS), are discussed. We show that, when a mean shear is absent, the self scaling exponents are universal and they do not depend on the specific flow (3D homogeneous turbulence, thermal convecti...
